WHAT THE!? FESTIVAL LINEUP 2017

blog_lineupWTF2017 announcement

Headlining this years curated lineup at What the Festival 2017- the annual electronic music summer art camp in the woods two hours east of Portland- is ZHUCut Copy, and Gramatik. A strong supporting undercard of various genres includes the So-Cal house beats of the Desert Hearts collective, the blissful sounds of Giraffage and Big Wild, the deep hip-hop beats of Claude Vonstroke’s side project (under his real name) Barclay Crenshaw, the ambient psychedelia of Ott, and straight bangers from artists like NastyNasty and Lafa Taylor.

Like its folk-flavored spiritual cousin, Pickathon, though, the true draw of WTF is less the lineup than the unique experience. I mean, the centerpiece of the whole thing is a giant soaking pool. Does it really matter who’s dropping the beats when you’ve got that?! And aside from the main card draws you will get plenty of electronic music: dubstep, trap, bass, house, techno, downtempo—you name it. All set to dazzling light shows at 8 visually beautiful stages with Funktion-One sound to match.

Groove Qube Stage

And they may even have a surprise in store! Last year’s introduction of the Groove Qube was epic. A stage more like a neon castle, built with glowing water barrels deep in the woods where you could dance until the sun rose. The year before that, the festival introduced The Dragon stage which hoists DJ’s atop its crow’s nest while the stage literally breathes fire. So, what new stage will we see in 2017?

Moving Castle is representing in full force with both Manila Killa and Hotel Garuda playing the festival, as well as BrasstracksChet Porter and WhethanRezz, the Canadian producer and mau5trap  prodigy who is currently on top in the EDM world, will also be performing. Other standouts include Haywyre, Classixx, Shiba San and Stooki Sound.

What The Festival promises to be the perfect getaway through offering attendees a full-sensory experience with more than 90 electronic musicians and producers from around the world. See you on the dance floor!
