ENVISION Music & Arts Festival 2023- Uvita, Costa Rica
Envision Festival – Costa Rica – Uvita, CR – IS BACK! After a 2 year hiatus, Envision is returning to its blissful home in Uvita, Costa Rica next February 27th – March 6th, 2023.
Making new friends, learning from each other, engaging with speakers/workshops, healing our bodies and minds … you will be left with memories not soon forgotten.
Time after time, Envision has delivered a delicately curated soundscape that spans the musical spectrum. From ethereal house beats to deep, sultry grooves, to global bass, reggae, glitch hop, and live performances.
But it’s also more than that. Envision is a true embodiment of the community of the future – perpetuating a movement centered on a vision for a more conscious culture, one that celebrates both humanity and the natural elements of our planet. The festival aims to create a transformational and sustainable environment for cultures to share, learn and combine their knowledge to help us all live better lives wherever we call home. With a wide array of speakers and topics, there can be something for everyone to learn. And this year, not only will these speakers be audible at the various stages of Envision: Village Witches, Red Tent, Earth Temple, and Star Seed Family Village. But for the first time ever, these workshops will be recorded and available online for year-round consumption.
This collection of top-quality online courses will be taught by leading voices in music, sustainability, art, spirituality, and movement. The range of topics- from Derrick Broze’s ‘Exit & Build: The Power of Being Outside the System’, to Iesha Martinez’s Sea ‘Moss & Digestive Health Talk’- are designed to help people learn new skills and knowledge to provide them with the tools they need to evolve.
As an added bonus, Envision Festival will plant a tree with every package sold through their non-profit organization, Somos el Cambio, which has planted more than 80,000 trees throughout the country, with more than 17,000 planted directly by Envision Festival.
With this amplified impact, Envision Festival is poised to become the most environmentally important music festival on the planet. Those who can’t attend can tune in both before and after the event for the same educational experiences, courtesy of instructors like Andrew Sealey, Tish Steenkamp, and Sarah Wu, who curate the lineup of educators that bring knowledge to the festival year after year. Fans of Envision’s wellness ethos can also look forward to the Brazillian meditation teacher Sah D’Simone, and many of Costa Rica’s finest, like the famed plant whisperer Adriana Ayales.
This first-of-its-kind news is accompanied by a world class music lineup, including the Los Angeles-based maestro of undulating grooves, Bonobo; Asian queen of hip-hop infused dance beats, TOKiMONSTA, and the French-born heavy hitter of psychedelic bass, CloZee. Envision also welcomes an entourage of playa dust-caked legends like Desert Dwellers, David Starfire, Govinda, The Human Experience, and AMÉMÉ. There’s even a special team-up performance slated with Sabo & Goldcap, who tag-teamed one of Robot Heart’s most memorable sets at Burning Man to date.
From Latin America, shining music sensations like the dynamite, guitar-shredding rock group Santos y Zurdos are returning for their 11th performance at the festival. Also topping the bill is the sensational Mexican composer and singer, Pahua, who traverses genres and transitions between Latin rhythms and electronic beats, with patterned emotions indicative of femininity, nature, and self-discovery. From Chile, Rodrigo Gallardo’s Andean music and Latin American roots bridge culture, consciousness, and ancestral connection with modern samples and deep bass. And returning for his 8th performance at Envision Festival, Bunny Wabbit, who is widely known in Costa Rica for his vibey dance parties, is also slated to bring his fun-loving energy back to the Lapa Stage.
Also, new this year, the festival will introduce a full section in its central market with more than 6 of the country’s most advanced non-profits, who have allied to spread Costa Rica’s eco-leaning ethos further than ever. These include Costas Verdes Restauración Costera, The Electrical Institute of Costa Rica, The Uvita Community Food Bank, Asada Uvita en Bahia Osa, and more.
‘Under this Umbrella’ has also made massive contributions to the surrounding community, including food donations for the neediest families in the area ($7,800), medical equipment donated to the local hospital in Ciudad Cortes for COVID relief efforts ($18,000), and upgrades to local water systems ($17,000). They’ve also built several “monkey bridges” to protect indigenous wildlife from power lines and collected more than 30 tons of trash from local beaches.
Hot on the Yoga Lineup this year are sensational teachers like the kundalini luminary Jai Dev Singh; host of the Practice You Podcast, Elena Brower; and the inversion enthusiast Andrew Sealy. Catch all those and more at the Templo Del Cielo, El Circo, and Templo De Las Estrellas pavilions.
This year’s festivities are also accompanied by an array of grand excursions now available for guests to take part in: Adventurers can explore tropical waterfalls or go paragliding, while those looking for date-worthy excursions can go snorkeling, horseback riding, and take breezy trips on catamarans. Those who need a rush can get surf lessons on picturesque beaches or feel the wind in their hair on ATV rides along dreamy jungle trails. More than ever, Envision is stepping up its offerings to maximize all that the magical land of Costa Rica has to offer.
And for your style needs, the Global Mercado will have everything you desire from a variety of vendors and artisans offering their handmade or fair-trade products, helping us redefine what ‘shopping’ means and allowing us to vote with our dollar. When it’s quality we buy, it will last us longer, deepen our respect for how it got there, and make a difference in the world. Meet the artists and designers you are buying from and learn their stories.
This festival really wants us all to get away from the processed world that has become our reality and back to where we find our true happiness: in health, in nature, in positive meaning, learning valuable knowledge to move our lives in the direction that makes the most sense.
Festivities run from February 27th to March 6th, for a total of 7 days of environmentalism, and wellness with a backdrop of breathtaking international music in a utopian beachside jungle.
